Charges laid after raid
KENSINGTON detectives dished out a string of drug-related charges last week after seizing more than $3 million worth of assets during raids in Welshpool, East Perth, Joondalup and Mirrabooka.
Detectives seized illicit drugs, firearms and suspected stolen property as part of the ongoing drug investigation in the SouthEast Metropolitan District.
Officers from the organised crime squad were later called to a home they suspected was a methamphetamine processing site.
Officers seized assets, including a $400,000 bank account, several commercial properties and a residential property pending investigation.
Acting Detective Inspector Tom Tristram said police targeted people who attempted to distribute drugs to vulnerable members of the community.
“From what we have established so far it would appear stolen property may have been used to purchase drugs, which contributes to the level of crime such as burglaries and stealing offences,” he said.
“I encourage anyone with information about suspected drug dealing to come for- ward and contact Crime Stoppers.
“Information received from the public helps direct resources to where we can make the most impact.”
A 54-year-old Welshpool man was one of seven charged with drug offences.
