YOUNG Australians of the Year and founders of Orange Sky Laundry launched a community award at Collier Primary School this month.

Lucas Patchett and Nic Marchesi, founders of Australia’s first mobile laundry service for the homeless, officially launched the Aussie of the Month Awards for 2016 at the Como primary school.

The philanthropic pair spoke to students, teachers and parents at a special assembly about the importance of community service and presented the first award for the year to students Zach Arnold and Matilda Pyne.

“We are extremely proud of this program and the way it encourages community engagement from a young age,” Australia Day WA chief executive Morgen Lewis said.

“Nic and Lucas are fine examples of young people con- tributing to their community.

“Their story is an extremely inspiring one which young students can relate to.”
