Funding boost for new centre welcomed
THE new multi-purpose community centre planned for the centre of Belmont received $3.8 million in Lotterywest funding last week.
The community centre will cost about $28 million in total.
The City of Belmont proposes the building will include a library, senior citizens centre, museum, office space for notfor-profit organisations, a creche and a cafe.
The grant will go towards the construction and fit-out of the community centre.
The City is reviewing tenders for architectural and engineering services for the community centre and Faulkner Civic Precinct.
City of Belmont councillors Robert Rossi, Margie Bass, Mayor Phil Marks, Lotterywest board member Maria Harries, Belmont MLA Glenys Godfrey and councillor Bernie Ryan welcome Lotterywest funding for the new community centre.
