Fund­ing boost for new cen­tre wel­comed

THE new multi-pur­pose com­mu­nity cen­tre planned for the cen­tre of Bel­mont re­ceived $3.8 mil­lion in Lot­tery­west fund­ing last week.

The com­mu­nity cen­tre will cost about $28 mil­lion in to­tal.

The City of Bel­mont pro­poses the build­ing will in­clude a li­brary, se­nior cit­i­zens cen­tre, mu­seum, of­fice space for not­for-profit or­gan­i­sa­tions, a creche and a cafe.

The grant will go to­wards the con­struc­tion and fit-out of the com­mu­nity cen­tre.

The City is re­view­ing ten­ders for ar­chi­tec­tural and en­gi­neer­ing ser­vices for the com­mu­nity cen­tre and Faulkner Civic Precinct.
