Most inspiring way to age gracefully

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - NEWS -

SHE might hide in a fragile frame, but 81year-old Yvonne Berry is a woman of strength. The Belmont resident is the producer at Capital Radio, the community station that brings music to the seniors of Perth.

At Wireless Hill in Ardross, Ms Berry operates the station’s producer’s desk every Friday while her husband Neal presents the popular music program Golden Oldies.

Ms Berry takes calls during her shift and said she loved communicating with the listeners whether they were commenting on the music, giving a life story update or simply calling for a chat.

A tireless volunteer, she also delivered Meals on Wheels in the City of Belmont and was a soroptimist. Proving that age is just a number, Ms Berry also designs and sews her own clothes and is part of a group that knits blankets and beanies for charity.
