Clubs kick goals for equal­ity in AFL

LO­CAL football clubs have joined forces to bring equal­ity to the field.

Bel­mont Ju­nior and Se­nior Football Clubs and the Perth An­gels Football club are work­ing to en­sure a struc­tured and healthy path ex­ists for boys and girls to pur­sue devel­op­ment with AFL.

With the Ea­gles and Dock­ers field­ing teams in the in­au­gu­ral AFL women’s league next year, Bel­mont AFL Aus­kick co-or­di­na­tor John Allen said now was the time to bring clubs to­gether on a jour­ney to­wards equal­ity, di­ver­sity and op­por­tu­nity.

“The Bel­mont Football com­mu­nity has al­ways pro­vided a strong av­enue for its youth to en­gage their en­ergy in a pos­i­tive way,” he said.

“This ex­ten­sion of that think­ing, cou­pled with the new high per­for­mance train­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties now pro­vides a clear path­way to suc­cess for all gen­der, race or creed in the greater Bel­mont area.”

Kids as young as four can now be­gin their jour­ney with the AFL Aus­kick pro­gram.
