Clubs kick goals for equality in AFL
LOCAL football clubs have joined forces to bring equality to the field.
Belmont Junior and Senior Football Clubs and the Perth Angels Football club are working to ensure a structured and healthy path exists for boys and girls to pursue development with AFL.
With the Eagles and Dockers fielding teams in the inaugural AFL women’s league next year, Belmont AFL Auskick co-ordinator John Allen said now was the time to bring clubs together on a journey towards equality, diversity and opportunity.
“The Belmont Football community has always provided a strong avenue for its youth to engage their energy in a positive way,” he said.
“This extension of that thinking, coupled with the new high performance training opportunities now provides a clear pathway to success for all gender, race or creed in the greater Belmont area.”
Kids as young as four can now begin their journey with the AFL Auskick program.
