Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - STREET WATCH -

A SOUTH Perth kindergarten last month became the first in WA to be accredited as a Little Scientists’ House.

Little Scientists is a not-forprofit initiative designed to facilitate children’s curiosity in science, technology, engineering and mathematics using fun experiments.

The program is now offered at Hensman Street Kindy and encourages educators to explore new concepts and ideas interactively with children.

“We are thrilled to be involved with the program,” teacher Christy-Lee Antonas said.

“Along with the children’s natural curiosity, the Little Scientists’ program will assist with our teaching program and delivery of science and mathematics concepts.”

Hensman Street Kindy announced the accreditation at a special gathering of parents, teachers and special guests.

Children were encouraged to experiment with the science-based activities after the official ceremony.

Association of Independent Schools in WA spokeswoman Wendy Gorman praised the teachers and staff at the kindergarten.

“Hensman Street Kindy has again been at the forefront of a great education initiative and we look forward to seeing other independent schools become a Little Scientists’ House,” she said.
