Stadium artwork wanted
ARTISTS are invited to register interest for the final two artwork opportunities at the Perth Stadium and Sports Precinct. More than $2 million has been allocated for the public art across Perth Stadium and the Sports Precinct, which will house sculptures and integrated art works to open in early 2018. The pieces will celebrate WA indigenous culture, landscape, history and community and incorporate themes of people, land and sport. Sports and Recreation Minister Mia Davies said the response to the first public art opportunity released last year had been met with interest from around Australia and the world. “One of the latest artwork opportunities will be a surface-mounted piece in the pedestrian underpass that links the Perth Stadium Station to the sports precinct,” Ms Davies said. “The second will be a large-scale artwork in the east of the sports precinct between the underpass and the eastern stadium entrance. Both locations will enjoy lots of public exposure and foot traffic on event and non-event days.” Interested artists should email firstname.lastname@example.org to request a brief. The successful artists will be appointed later this year, with artwork in place ahead of the stadium opening in 2018.
