Autumn carnival concept continues in 2017
AFTER a successful 2016 Autumn Carnival at Ascot Racecourse – and crowd growth of 33 per cent – Perth Racing announced it will continue the three-meeting event in 2017.
The Amelia Park Karrakatta Plate Day held on April 2, the community raceday on April 9 and the WATC’s Derby Day on April 16 attracted great crowds and industry support.
Perth Racing chief executive Julian Sullivan said the three-event carnival success was due to many elements.
“Prior to the start of the racing season at Ascot last year, the club unveiled its plans to attract more racegoers to the course with improved facilities for its members and the staging of major and community-focused racedays,” he said.
“From feedback, members and patrons not only enjoyed the line-up of racing, but also the facility improvement, event management, customer service, entertainment and the excitement of the carnival.”
Ascot Racecourse will have another race meeting this Saturday dedicated to the fallen Anzacs before the Belmont Park racecourse reopens for winter racing on April 30.
