En­tries for young writ­ers’ award open

EN­TRIES to the 2016 Phillip Pen­dal Award for young writ­ers and pho­tog­ra­phers are now open.

Stu­dents from Years 1 to 12 who are liv­ing in or at­tend­ing school in the City of South Perth are in­vited to take part in the an­nual com­pe­ti­tion.

Hosted by the South Perth His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety, the com­pe­ti­tion’s prizes amount to more than $500 in value.

Par­tic­i­pants are asked to write a fac­tual story based on the theme ‘my favourite his­tor­i­cal place, build­ing, ob­ject or per­son con­nected to a sub­urb of South Perth’.

The en­try should be il­lus­trated with a clear pho­to­graph.

En­tries close on May 20 and win­ners will have their work dis­played at Her­itage House for a limited time. More in­for­ma­tion is at www.south­perth­his­tor­i­cal­so­ci­ety.org.
