Un­reg­is­tered pain­ter fined over work done

AN un­reg­is­tered Rivervale pain­ter was suc­cess­fully pros­e­cuted by the Build­ing Com­mis­sioner for fail­ing to com­ply with a build­ing rem­edy or­der.

Raymond Pa­trick O’Sul­li­van, trad­ing as Prime Fin­ishes Paint­ing Ser­vices, was fined $4500 and had to pay costs of about $616 af­ter he pleaded guilty to three charges over work he did at an East Vic­to­ria Park prop­erty in Oc­to­ber 2014.

The court pro­ceed­ings were fi­nalised at the Perth Mag­is­trates Court on Fe­bru­ary 12.

Two charges were for un­der­tak­ing paint­ing work worth over $1000 for profit with­out the re­quired reg­is­tra­tion and one charge was for fail­ing to com­ply with an or­der of the Build­ing Com­mis­sioner.

The paint­ing at the East Vic­to­ria Park prop­erty was val­ued at $3200.

The owner was dis­sat­is­fied with Mr O’Sul­li­van’s work and lodged a com­plaint with the Build­ing Com­mis­sion.

The Build­ing Com­mis­sion or­dered Mr O’Sul­li­van to rem­edy 11 work­man­ship is­sues within 28 days but he did not com­ply with the or­der.
