Nalder at crossroads

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - NEWS -

TRANSPORT Minister Dean Nalder has asked for advice from Main Roads about plans for Brearley Avenue following the City of Belmont electors’ meeting last month.

The meeting passed a motion 35-4 calling on the City of Belmont to review keeping the road open between Great Eastern Highway and First Street.

It also called on the council to “write forthwith” to Mr Nalder, requesting that he review the proposed closure and keep part of it open as a local road to serve the community.

The council will consider the motion at its May 24 meeting.

“I am aware of the resolutions carried at the special electors meeting and I have requested advice from Main Roads,” Mr Nalder said.

“The Member for Belmont, Glenys Godfrey, has been making me aware of the views of the local community and seeking a resolution on their behalf.

“She has certainly been making sure I understand their concerns and I will be seeking further advice on this.”
