Demons too hot for Swans
WOODEN SPOON GETS A STIR
PERTH notched up its second league win of the season in the battle of the bottom two teams after defeating Swan Districts by 41 points at Lathlain Park on Saturday, 14.11 (95) to 8.6 (54).
Both clubs were desperate for their second win of the season, with the loser to firm as wooden spoon favourite for 2016 despite it only being Round 8.
The Reserves and Colts sides were also victorious, with the Colts continuing its unbeaten run and remaining on top of the ladder.
The Demons started strongly and never relented, cruising to victory.
Perth’s midfield had a field day, with Clint Jones racking up 47 possessions, Julian Jacobs 36, Liam McKenna 32, Aidan Tropiano 29 and ruckman Angus Graham 18 to go with six marks, 44 hit-outs and two goals.
Teenager Zac Fisher was another standout again for the Demons, with 27 disposals and a goal.
The forward line found some more avenues to goal, with Sam Garstone kicking three goals, Kristian Cary two and Callum Walley two.
It was a tough afternoon again for Swan Districts, who now remain alone on the bottom of the WAFL ladder with just the one win. The absence of Ricky Cary, Jake Nuich, Murray Newman, Aaron Elari, Kirk Ugle and Jarrad Blight proved too tough to cover.
Tony Notte stepped up to kick three goals and Nelson Ansey two, with Freddie Clutterbuck collecting 31 possessions, Matt Riggio 31, Adam Faulkner 29, Graham Jetta 21 and Jesse Turner 21.
