Sporting chance for jobs
NEW contracts recently approved for construction at Perth Stadium will bring an additional 346 jobs to the area for local companies.
NEW contracts worth more than $76 million have been awarded to WA companies for construction on the Perth Stadium. The contracts have brought the total to more than $367 million awarded to local companies with an additional 346 new local jobs being created. Nearly 2000 existing roles have been sustained, resulting in flow-on benefits to the wider community and business sectors. Sport and Recreation Minister Mia Davies said the new contracts meant more WA companies could showcase their expertise. “The Perth Stadium and Sports Precinct will be a world-class venue and it is being largely built by local companies,” she said. The stadium is more than 40 per cent complete and remains on schedule to open for the start of the 2018 AFL season.
