Sport­ing chance for jobs

NEW con­tracts re­cently ap­proved for con­struc­tion at Perth Sta­dium will bring an ad­di­tional 346 jobs to the area for lo­cal com­pa­nies.

NEW con­tracts worth more than $76 mil­lion have been awarded to WA com­pa­nies for con­struc­tion on the Perth Sta­dium. The con­tracts have brought the to­tal to more than $367 mil­lion awarded to lo­cal com­pa­nies with an ad­di­tional 346 new lo­cal jobs be­ing cre­ated. Nearly 2000 ex­ist­ing roles have been sus­tained, re­sult­ing in flow-on ben­e­fits to the wider community and busi­ness sec­tors. Sport and Recre­ation Min­is­ter Mia Davies said the new con­tracts meant more WA com­pa­nies could show­case their ex­per­tise. “The Perth Sta­dium and Sports Precinct will be a world-class venue and it is be­ing largely built by lo­cal com­pa­nies,” she said. The sta­dium is more than 40 per cent com­plete and re­mains on sched­ule to open for the start of the 2018 AFL sea­son.
