Artists, musos get RoyAl treatment

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - STREET WATCH -

HE has dreamt of owning his own restaurant since the age of nine but now Victoria Park’s Alasdair Craigie’s goal has finally come to fruition.

His new restaurant, RoyAl’s Chicken and Burgers, opened in East Victoria Park earlier this month and combined three of Mr Craigie’s biggest passions: food, music and art.

Along with a menu focussed on fried chicken and gourmet burgers, RoyAl’s Chicken and Burgers will be decorated with pieces from local artists and will host an occasional live music night.

“We want artists to feel comfortable using RoyAl’s as a platform to exhibit their work; that way we always keep things fresh and interesting for the customer and help local talent,” Mr Craigie said.

Formerly the head chef at high-profile restaurants Sentinel on St George’s Terrace and Steve’s Hotel in Nedlands, Mr Craigie said he left those coveted roles in to bring new flair to the local burger scene. d454044

“Victoria Park has always been our family’s place of choice for dining out; I like the relaxed, casual atmosphere,” he said.
