Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - OPINION - Rick Lee - regional editor

TODAY, I feel like a lucky man… lucky to live in a democratic country that allows political candidates to argue their case for election for 55 days straight. I am grateful that in 39 days it will all be over and we can get back to a more balanced media diet of sport, cooking competitions and matchmaking shows. Though most Fremantle Dockers fans probably welcome the distraction of a Federal Election, it will be a relief to leave the rough-andtumble of political jousting to concentrate on the important issues - such as whether Pav is going to play out the season or retire with due fanfare halfway through the season. At least it would give the bedraggled Purple Army something to cheer about. And for all those reality TV junkies, the new season of The

Bachelor starts next month. Let us hope the political posturing does not overshadow the premiere of such an auspicious program.
