Red­backs shoot up a storm

THE stormy weather did not stop the Perth Red­backs from scor­ing a vic­tory over the Perry Lakes Hawks last Satur­day.

Both the men’s and women’s teams won their matches at the Ben­dat Basketball Cen­tre.

The women put on a strong over­all per­for­mance to take down the Hawks, who are ranked in top four, with a 10372 point vic­tory.

Perth had high scor­ers across the board with Re­becca Ben­son claim­ing 22 points, five as­sists and four re­bounds and Ajay Jones scor­ing 17 points, six steals and four re­bounds.

Jess Jak­ens man­aged 17 points and nine re­bounds, Ash Gil­more scored six points, six as­sists and nine re­bounds and Lori Ash­worth scored nine points.

Gabby O’Sul­li­van made her sea­son de­but with 15 points.

The men’s side had their fourth con­sec­u­tive win for the sea­son and will soon be knock­ing on the door of the top eight.

Time ran out in favour of Perth with a score of 117-95.

Lewis Thomas scored 27 points and 11 re­bounds with Michael Vigor grab­bing 16 points and five re­bounds.

Joel Wag­nor was in­flu­en­tial with 14 points, six as­sists and five re­bounds with Jour­dan DeMuynck scor­ing 14 points, five re­bounds and four as­sists.

Reed McCon­nell scored 11 points while Ben Smith man­aged 20 points.

The men’s had a quick turn­around, play­ing the Ger­ald­ton Buc­c­ca­neers on Sun­day but los­ing 105-110.
