STUDENTS in St Norbert College’s specialised basketball program are going from strength to strength, with the girls and boys advancing to the State Championship division finals this term.

Year 10 student Savahna Nevill (15) was named most valuable player in the Airport League Division, while Year 9 Nes’eya Williams (14) has been selected in the Under-16 WA Metro Women’s team and is preparing to compete at the Nationals in Kilsyth, Victoria on July 2.

Towering on the court at 183cm, Nes’eya has had a passion for basketball since she was just five years old when she played with family at her Manning home.

With a view to representing Australia in the future, Nes’eya trains once a week with her State side and twice with WA Basketball League side Perth Redbacks.

She said she was thrilled to see her skills take her across the country and the world.

“I’m pretty amazed; this year I’ll play in Melbourne and in Singapore,” she said. “I work hard to get to where I am.”

St Norbert College student Nes’eya Williams wants to take her basketball prowess as far as she can.
