Letting her hair down for 100th birthday

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - OPINION -

A SOUTH Perth resident celebrated her 100th birthday in style when her hairdressing salon surprised her with a morning tea last week.

Every Tuesday for the past 13 years, Gwen Prince has gone to Michelangelo Hair Salon for her weekly hair appointment.

Salon receptionist Nola Forknall said the team had been excited to surprise Ms Prince with her well-deserved 100th birthday celebration.

“She didn’t know anything about it; it was so lovely, all of us were really on a high,” Ms Forknall said.

“She comes every week by gopher and she’s just amazing; her mind is as sharp as a tack.”

Ms Price was at the salon with her daughters, who also had a surprise up their sleeves.

“It just so happened that her letters from the Queen and Prime Minister hadn’t arrived in time for the family celebration last week,” Ms Forknall said.
