Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - OPINION -

GATSBY attire and 1920s style will greet the announcement of the winners of the 10th Annual WA Club Industry Awards, with the Belmont Sports & Recreation Club and Perth Football Club being hot contenders for their category titles.

More than 400 guests will join the 30 clubs and 70 individual finalists at WA’s annual club industry gala ball on June 11 at Crown Perth.

Belmont Sports & Recreation Club is a finalist for both the Best Club TAB and the Best Club Members Event (Medium) award.

Wayne Ronald Giles from the Recreation Club is also in the running for the Volunteer Contribution Award, which recognises and honours a volunteer who brought about positive change to their club.

Perth Football Club will go up against other local community clubs to take home the Clubs in the Community – Community Partnerships Award and the Clubs in the Community – Special projects Award.

The award acknowledges clubs that have long-term relationships with community organisations by way of either a regular event or ongoing promotion.

Clubs WA chief executive officer Karen Giles said clubs were the heart of the local community.

“In the 10 years since our first awards, we have seen many individual sporting codes introduce their own programs to celebrate achievements within specific fields,” she said.

Tickets are $140 per person and available through contacting events@clubswa.com.au.
