MG Group wins build tender

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - PENINSULA SNAPSHOT CITY OF SOUTH PERTH -

THE Bilya Kard Boodja Lookout in Rivervale will be upgraded after the City of Belmont awarded a tender of $1.2 million to the MG Group construction company.

The company was one of six to tender for the redevelopment and was awarded the tender at the council’s last meeting on May 24.

A council report said the company had undertaken similar works including installing playgrounds, steel structures, soft works and irrigation systems.

“Reference checks on MG Group and two other tenderers were carried out,” the report said.

“The responses received reinforced the Evaluation Committee’s view that MG Group was best qualified to undertake the construction of the parkland at Bilya Kard Boodja Lookout.”

The council rejected a bid, four votes to three, to include construction of toilets, barbecues and parking facilities, after a prolonged discussion.

Councillor Robert Rossi said toilets and barbecues could be installed at a later date if there was a proven demand for them.

Local residents were opposed to the facilities because of concerns about anti-social behaviour in the area.
