YOUR LITTLE PIECE OF ENGLAND
WITH a love of all things English, the owners of this truly unique Carlisle residence knew what they wanted when they decided to build a home 10 years ago.
They wanted it styled exactly like a house in Newmarket in Suffolk, England that they had fallen head over heels for already.
“When we first saw that house, we absolutely fell in love with the design and styling, and thought this is the style for our place,” one of the owners said.
“From the white trim and the Georgian-inspired symmetry of the front elevation to the mottled brown brickwork and grey slate-style roofing, nearly everything about our home has been modelled on that Newmarket cottage.”
Built by APG Homes and completed in September 2008, the dwelling has been designed to look like it has stood on the 582sq m rear survey-strata block for 100 years.
But inside the double-storey home, things take a very contemporary turn.
Past the double timber and leadlight entry, the home reveals a free-flowing floor plan with familysized living areas.
Warming timber floors anchor the sprawling spaces, leading past a set of double doors into the open plan lounge/dining/kitchen space, which flows out naturally into the alfresco entertaining area.
The kitchen is strikingly modern with bright orange glass splashback, generous storage, 900mm oven, five-burner gas cooker, water purifier and dishwasher.
Outside, the expansive decked space under the main roof is picturesque and perfect for barbecues, overlooking the private gardens and saltwater pool with water feature.
Also on the ground floor is a majestic master bedroom with a fully tiled spa ensuite and dressing room.
Upstairs, there are two minor bedrooms with built-in robes, including one with semi-ensuite access into the main bathroom, a storeroom, a lounge room with kitchenette, and a home theatre or fourth bedroom.
Completing the residence is a downstairs powder room, a laundry room with linen closet, a freestanding double garage and a workshop with power.
Other features include airconditioning throughout, an alarm system, and a solar hot-water system.
