Leif’s Redemption at the gallery

A TALENTED Ursula Frayne Catholic College graduate has been picked to hang his artwork in the competitive Perspectives Art Exhibition.

As a former student with the school’s Year 12 visual art program, Leif Shorter’s work Revolving Door was selected to hang in the Art Gallery of WA for the exhibition.

His pencil and paint drawing was a lifelike depiction of Shawshank Redemption’s Brooks.

Leif said the theme of his artwork addressed the idea that Brooks was looking back at his past self, and examining the man who was led to prison.

Themes of the work also suggested prison was designed for rehabilitation but could cause confusion for a person trying to re-enter society. Leif is studying psychology at UWA. character
