Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - STREET WATCH -

THEY aren’t the West Coast Eagles usually making headlines but four representatives of the football club are preparing to embark on the drive of a lifetime to support West Australians living with motor neurone disease.

Eagles chief financial officer Amanda Cox, human resources manager Melissa Burrows, finance manager Melissa Donaghey and accounts officer Katie Winsor will participate in the 2016 MND Drive South West Adventure, an annual fundraising and awareness event for the Motor Neurone Disease Association of WA.

Up to 30 vehicles are expected to participate in the three-day driving adventure, which has raised more than $500,000 for MNDAWA in the past three years.

Ms Cox said being involved last year with others passionate about finding a cure was a wonderful experience.

“We explored beautiful parts of WA which were off the beaten track and shared the unique experience with so many amazing people,” she said.

“There were people who were personally battling the disease, family and friends supporting them and those honouring the memory of someone who lost their fight with MND.”

Registrations for this year’s event, in October, are open at www.mnddrive.com.au.

Community Newspaper Group is an affiliated partner of the West Coast Eagles.

Three of last year’s MND drive team – which consisted of Katie Winsor, Amanda Cox and Melissa Burrows and Fiona Cooper – are preparing to again take part in the fundraising drive.
