Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - RESIDENTIAL -

OWNERS Stephen and Estelle put their heart and soul into designing this entertainer’s home in the riverside suburb of Waterford, planning to settle into a new chapter in Australia.

Alas, life gets in the way and now the newly built, never-lived-in residence on the uniquely positioned 833sq m block next to Bodkin Park is ripe for the picking.

“The home was built in 2015 by Chessington Homes,” Stephen said.

“We took one look at the block and knew the location was very special.

“It is a custom home designed to take advantage of the views and to reflect what we have come to want in a home after many years living in various designs from the traditional to the contemporary.”

The Hamptons-style charmer is flooded with natural light and features a free-flowing floor plan that offers true indoor/outdoor living.

Solid timber floors anchor the cavernous spaces, which have skyhigh ceilings and contemporary, neutral décor.

“We knew we wanted open-plan living with the master downstairs due to our getting older and not wanting to deal with stairs,” Estelle said.

“Also, we wanted a large outdoor living area with fireplace and a wraparound veranda to emulate the old Australian homes.

“Our favourite has to be the main living area with its sweeping views of the park and the lake with all the wildlife.

“You cannot beat the view when you are standing in the kitchen looking out.”

The kitchen itself is equally stunning with two ovens, a built-in microwave oven, a dishwasher, huge walk-in pantry, and a 4m-long granite-topped island bench.

The master bedroom also shares those parkland views and luxury finishes including a walk-in robe and a hotel-inspired ensuite with double vanities.

Upstairs, there are two more king-sized bedrooms, including one with balcony views, as well as a large bathroom with a clawfoot bath.

With the alfresco entertaining areas designed to be enjoyed all year round, the gardens remain easy to look after and are fully reticulated.

This leaves more time to enjoy the outdoor wood-fired heater and the gas and water connections for the future alfresco kitchen.

A residence of this calibre is not complete without plenty of extras such as reverse-cycle ducted airconditioning, an alarm system, ceiling fans and a downstairs powder room.
