Como Primary student wins heritage award
A COMO Primary School student won the 2016 Phillip Pendal Young Heritage Written and Photographic Award last week.
Year 6 student Alec Jorgensen (11) was presented with the $500 cash prize from the family of the late Phillip Pendal and books valued at $100 from South Perth MLA John McGrath.
Mr McGrath also presented Como Primary School with $100 worth of books. Sponsored by the City of South Perth Historical Society, the award is in its eighth year.
“It was Phillip Pendal’s dream to establish the City of South Perth as a centre for literature and art,” Historical Society president Lynn O’Hara said said.
