Como Pri­mary stu­dent wins her­itage award

A COMO Pri­mary School stu­dent won the 2016 Phillip Pen­dal Young Her­itage Writ­ten and Pho­to­graphic Award last week.

Year 6 stu­dent Alec Jor­gensen (11) was pre­sented with the $500 cash prize from the fam­ily of the late Phillip Pen­dal and books val­ued at $100 from South Perth MLA John McGrath.

Mr McGrath also pre­sented Como Pri­mary School with $100 worth of books. Spon­sored by the City of South Perth His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety, the award is in its eighth year.

“It was Phillip Pen­dal’s dream to es­tab­lish the City of South Perth as a cen­tre for lit­er­a­ture and art,” His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety pres­i­dent Lynn O’Hara said said.
