Ellis still game to sign autographs
A CALF injury ruled Xavier Ellis out of contention for West Coast's match against the Kangaroos on Sunday, but it didn’t stop him dropping into his local shops to sign autographs and give away some tickets to the game last Thursday.
Ellis was the first of a number of Eagles players making appearances at shopping centres owned by property group Hawaiian, as part of its renewed partnership with the football club.
He was joined at The Mezz, in Mt Hawthorn, by Eagles mascot Rick the Rock.
On Thursday, players will be at Noranda shopping village and Forrestfield Forum and Marketplace, with further visits scheduled for Melville Plaza and Carillon City on Friday.
Hawaiian chief executive Russell Gibbs said the partnership was an important aspect of the company’s community program.
“One element of our community program is about helping our local communities have access to experiences that engage and inspire our youths,” he said.
“The only reason we are able to make this happen is through partnering with like-minded organisations, including West Coast Eagles.”
