PLAY EXPLORES GRAVE SUBJECT
VICTORIA Park resident Jenny Trestrail is throwing political correctness out the window when she takes to the stage in murder mystery Prepare to Meet Thy Tomb at the Garrick Theatre this month.
Trestrail plays scheming lawyer Cicely Venner.
She said the play, which is the third instalment of a trilogy, followed the idea that the family who play together, slay together.
“Cicely is a scheming lawyer who used to work for the Tomb family and is still friends with the devious Hecuba Tomb,” she said.
“The play has a lot of intrigue with unique characters, including the dysfunctional Tomb family.
“The plot twists and turns making it difficult to predict the outcome and making the audience think whodunit until the surprise ending.”
As a latecomer to the stage, Trestrail said her husband encouraged her to give it a go after a few years working behind the scenes.
“My very first show was the Wizard of Oz musical at the Regal Theatre in 2003,” Trestrail said.
“In recent years I have been fortunate enough to progress to lead rolls, mostly in farces and pantomimes including Dame Senna Pod in Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Edith in The Darling Buds of May and Gertrude Twining in Rookery Nook.”
Prepare to Meet Thy Tomb plays at Guilford’s Garrick Theatre from July 28 to August 13. To book, phone 9378 1990 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
