Partnership reaps rewards
working together for the primary school’s Mulch and Manure Drive.
Kensington students fold and assemble pamphlets, which Collier students then distribute in the community.
The drive is a P&C fundraiser where residents in Como, Kensington, South Perth and Waterford can purchase manure, mulch, potting mix and soil conditioner to be home-delivered.
Kensington Secondary School teacher Mandy Royce said funds raised would be used for a playground revitalisation program and pay for curriculum extension programs for students.
“This is the first year of the partnership and hopefully the beginning of more to come,” Ms Royce said.
“It’s excellent to see two schools in the community coming together for the benefit of both.”
The project fits with Kensington Secondary’s Work Skills Program, which helps students learn skills to help them find employment after graduating.
