Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - OPINION -

IN the July issue No 4 of the Peninsular Newsletter put out by the City of South Perth, the Mayor has informed us of the following memorandum of understanding.

Mayor Doherty said she was pleased to announce that the City of South Perth and Town of Victoria Park have signed a memorandum of understanding that commits both councils to a formalised working relationship and partnership for a period of at least three years.

As neighbouring councils, it makes absolute sense to work closely together on projects and issues that will impact residents and ratepayers in both communities, Mayor Doherty said.

Mayor Doherty, along with Geoff Glass, City of South Perth chief executive, and Town of Victoria Park Mayor Trevor Vaughan and chief executive Anthony Vuleta signed the agreement.

The City of South Perth Residents Association Inc wishes to congratulate both Mayor Doherty and Mayor Vaughan for taking this initiative.

With both councils co-operating and working together, this can only be of great financial benefit to all ratepayers and residents. CECILIA BROOKE, chairwomen, City of South Perth Residents Association Inc.
