TIPS FOR STRESS-FREE HOLIDAY
WE are lucky to live in a time when travelling has never been easier, opening up our horizons to new cultures and new experiences.
But there are still a few things to consider when travelling, so here are a few do’s and don’ts to consider before you head to your next destination.
Do photocopy your passport before you leave, as well as other important documents such as any visas and identification, to ensure if any of these get lost you have a back-up.
Do research on the culture and country you are visiting to find out about any cultural differences you may need to be aware of and to create a list of interesting things to do and places to see.
Don’t stress about sticking to a schedule; you can have an even more unique and rewarding trip by simply walking around and seeing where your day will take you.
Don’t pack a lot of entertainment such as electronic devices and books. You are there to explore a new country, so one book for the plane should be enough and save the space in your suitcase for souvenirs.
Do pack clothes for changes in the weather. There is nothing worse than a sudden drop in temperature and all you have packed is your bathers. Research the weather for the country and time of year you are visiting to work out a flexible range of clothes to take.
Don’t let your phone roam while overseas, or face being hit with a bill as big as your whole travelling costs when you return home. Consider getting an international plan with your phone company for the trip or buy a sim when you arrive to use for emergencies.
Do try new things. Your trip is a chance to make the most of the opportunity to engage, discover and experience new sights, tastes, people and places.
