Forum upgrade gets approval
THE Belmont Forum shopping centre will receive upgrades, including a new restaurant, outdoor dining area and public seating areas along the Belmont Venue road verge.
The City of Belmont approved the upgrades, with conditions, at its last meeting.
A council report said the works would be along the road verge portion of Belmont Avenue between Fulham and Wright streets.
“The approved development proposes a series of restaurants in place of the existing blank façade,” it said.
“An outdoor (alfresco) dining area supplements each of the restaurant tenancies.
“To complement this, the applicant has proposed development of public seating areas, a small stage area for small performances or busking, upgraded landscaping and paving in the Belmont Avenue road verge.”
The Metropolitan Central Joint Development Application Panel recently granted planning approval for the works which included alterations to the Belmont Avenue frontage of the existing building.
