Plaque honours role of Navy in Vietnam
BELMONT RSL sub-branch members will attend the unveiling of a plaque to commemorate the service of the Royal Australian Navy during the Vietnam War on August 20.
The service will be held at the City of Stirling Gardens war memorial as part of the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan.
Belmont RSL vice-president Steve Toon said the Navy’s part in the Vietnam War was significant but rarely mentioned.
Mr Toon will also be placing a wreath at the Flame of Remembrance at Kings Park on August 27 for the Malayan Borneo Veterans’ Merdeka commemorative service.
