Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - OPINION -

PHOTOS of family life, recreation and landmarks from the early days of South Perth are part of an exhibition at Heritage House.

The South Perth Historical Society has included 52 images in the exhibition, which is open on Fridays between 10am and 4pm, and Saturday and Sundays from 1pm to 4pm, until September 30.

Many of the images are being shown for the first time in the gallery and are expected to attract interest from local people interested in history.

Society president Lynn O’Hara said the photographs provided the community with a valuable insight into what life was like in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

“Our thanks to the City of South Perth for giving us permission to use some of the photographs from its Picture South Perth Collection. Together with our own images, we believe this exhibition is one of the most exciting our members have produced to date,” she said.

South Perth Historical Society’s John Maloney helped co-ordinate the historic exhibition.
