Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - OPINION -

THANK you Tim Slater and Janet Gee in last week’s Gazette for bringing the issue of trolley controls to the fore.

But I disagree with the suggestion that the City of Belmont actually has "trolley controls".

In reality, it is patently obvious from the trolley blight persisting in the city that the council's long-term mismanagement of the issue has engendered a widely accepted culture of trolley dumping.

Anyone inquiring about the issue, whether with the council, the aldermen, the retail outlets, or Forum management, will find that each representative will pass the buck somewhere else.

It is never their responsibility, it is always someone else's. Nobody has the power to fix the problem.

Why are they there, you could ask.

Clearly, someone somewhere has the ultimate authority. That someone would be the council would it not?

If other cities do not have this problem then why must we? ROBERT HELLEMAN, Rivervale.
