Water-saving efforts rewarded
THE Town of Victoria Park’s Aqualife Centre was one of five Perth aquatic centre’s recognised by the Water Corporation and the Leisure Institute of Western Australia for steps taken to save water. The council’s decision to install water-efficient showerheads with automatic timers to reduce use was highlighted at the LIWA State Conference on August 15. Water Minister Mia Davies congratulated the centres for their water-saving efforts. "All five of the metropolitan centres carried out extensive reviews of how they use water and developed management plans to achieve lasting water savings,” she said. "They identified many ways to save water, from retrofitting their internal plumbing with waterwise showerheads and taps, to carrying out daily water-use monitoring and changing the way they maintain and operate their facilities."
