Governor to help celebrate Probus milestone

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - STREET WATCH -

GOVERNOR Kerry Sanderson will help celebrate the Probus Association’s 40th anniversary at a past presidents lunch at the Royal Perth Golf Club.

The club was founded in Australia in 1976 to provide a forum for fellowship, fun and intellectual stimulation for active retirees.

It was introduced by the Hunters Hill Rotary Club in New South Wales and has grown to comprise 130,000 members in 6000 clubs nationally, with 105 clubs in WA.

“We have much to celebrate and we are delighted that the Governor, who is our patron, will join us,” president Elizabeth Hardy said.

The first WA Probus Club was formed in Thornlie in 1982 and the Probus Association of Western Australia was established two years later.

The lunch will be held tomorrow, starting at midday, and is open to all Probus members.
