Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - OPINION -

THEY flew to Rio de Janeiro,

To represent our land.

A group of Aussie athletes,

A proud and gallant band.

The ranting from our media,

Brought pressure to their minds.

As headlines screamed out champions

Are not the losing kind.

We cheered aroud the telly,

When Australia first struck gold.

Knowing in our hearts,

We’d soon hit the mother load.

Soon our champs stood on the dais,

And there was magic in the air.

When we heard our song which brought a tear,

Advance Australia Fair.

ROBERT WEBB, Belmont.
