Handy fund­ing as hub takes shape

CITY of South Perth has se­cured fund­ing from the Fed­eral Govern­ment’s Stronger Com­mu­ni­ties Pro­gram to get out­door fur­ni­ture for the Man­ning Com­mu­nity Hub.

The City will fi­nan­cially match the $17,750 grant, with fund­ing go­ing to­wards out­door seat­ing that will fuse ur­ban and or­ganic styles, while cre­at­ing a wel­com­ing and in­clu­sive cen­tral ‘pedes­trian street’.

Con­struc­tion of the hub is ex­pected to be com­pleted at the end of 2016, with the fa­cil­ity open­ing in early 2017.

The fa­cil­ity is a multi-mil­lion dol­lar ma­jor project that will es­tab­lish a new ‘heart’ for Man­ning, pro­vid­ing the com­mu­nity with a vi­brant, con­nected and at­trac­tive precinct in­te­grat­ing com­mu­nity ser­vices and so­cial ac­tiv­i­ties.

It in­cludes the re­lo­ca­tion of the Man­ning Li­brary, a com­mu­nity hall, Man­ning Child Health Clinic, Mo­orditj Keila Abo­rig­i­nal Group, a sport­ing clu­b­room to house the Man­ning Rip­pers Foot­ball Club, an early years cen­tre that will be the home of the Man­ning Toy Li­brary and a new Man­ning Play­group as­so­ci­a­tion.
