Demons aim to go one better this summer

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - SPORT -

AFTER finishing second in the club championship last year, Perth Cricket Club (PCC) is looking to go one better when the season begins this week.

The Demons will open their season with a one-day home game at Fletcher Park against Joondalup on October 8.

PCC committee member Brad Gordon said the club had a number of talented young players who would strengthen the side.

“We’ve got players such as Jonathan Wells and Josh Nicholas, who’ve represented the Western Warriors. Mark Atkinson has been added to the coaching panel; he represented WA in the 1990s,” he said.

“Some of the young players we expect to make an impact over this season and into the future include Liam Guthrie, Aidan Enright, Nick Fitzgerald and Brenton Williams, who are all looking promising.”

Mr Gordon said he described last year as “fantastic but frustrating.”

“To finish second in the club championship, which takes into account all the four grades, was very good.”
