Painting parents add colour to primary
KEWDALE Primary School parents got involved in an arts project to help beautify the school.
The project involved the parents painting interactive boards, which will be placed around the campus in an effort to bring some colour and fun.
Acting deputy principal Leigh Jones said the sessions were co-ordinated by The Song Room, an organisation that runs music and art projects around Australia.
“We had the artist Charlotte O’Shea help us out and the board represent the different parts of the school,” she said.
“We met up every Tuesday afternoon for eight weeks, Charlotte helped us come with the ideas and sketched them out on the boards before we painted them and she came in with a professional touch.
Ms Jones said she came across The Song Room after looking for a program to help parents get involved in the school. d461137
“All of the parents are absolutely pleased about what we’ve been able to do and they are pleased with the results,” she said.
“We’ve ended up with four large boards, which will be placed around the school after we unveil them to the school on November 17.”
