MAIN ROADS, LANDCORP RECOGNISED
THE City of Belmont has presented Opportunity Awards to Main Roads WA and LandCorp.
The Opportunity Awards recognise the achievements of an individual, group or organisation that has enhanced the amenity and quality of life in the City of Belmont or assisted the City to achieve its objectives.
Mayor Phil Marks said LandCorp had received the award for partnering with the City of Belmont to achieve an outstanding development at The Springs, Rivervale.
“The experience of this organisation in land development is perfectly demonstrated today in the outcomes of The Springs, transforming a very difficult area to redevelop into a unified and highly desirable estate,” he said.
“The new buildings include the 16-storey, 188-apartment Spring View Towers, the Arbor North apartment, the Flo apartments which incorporates a host of environmentally sustainable features, the mixed commercial and residential Proximity development and the soon to be completed 224-room Aloft hotel – to name a few.”
Cr Marks presented the second award to Main Roads’ Gateway WA Project for making a significant contribution to the City of Belmont’s infrastructure that has transformed the area.
“Main Roads WA has worked in partnership with the City on Western Australia’s largest road project,” Cr Marks said.
“This iconic project has made a significant contribution to the City by providing an improved safe and efficient major road network,” he said.
“It has transformed the entry to Perth Airport and upgraded the efficiency of one of the most important transport hubs in the State.
“For the City, an important new interchange at Tonkin Highway and Dunreath Drive provides access to the current Qantas/Jetstar domestic airport and the future Belmont train station direct from Tonkin Highway.
“The ‘Grand Gateway’, the prominent feature of the project, is located in the City of Belmont and creates a themed journey between the entry to Perth Airport and the City and includes impressive feature lighting and landscaping.”
