An exciting new chapter for school

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - NEWS -

ST Pius X Catholic School in Manning has brought modern technology to its students as part of a refurbishment of the school’s library.

Principal Daine Burnett said the idea of the refurbishment, which was valued at about $1 million, was to deliver up-to-date technology.

“It will enable the students to interact with both current IT and traditional research methods,” he said.

“The project was funded by the community and not by the government, which was a great effort.

“The library was extended and a media hub was introduced, along with the building being repainted and recarpeted.”

Mr Burnett said he believed the refurbished library would help the school’s students in their studies.

“It will help them explore robotics, coding and electronic programs which have become a part of life,” he said.

“The feedback we have received has been really positive; the students love it, the parents love it and the teachers think it’s amazing.”

The library was renamed the Josephite Learning Place and blessed on Thursday.

“This year is the 150th anniversary of the formation of the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart, who founded our school,” Mr Burnett said.

“The blessing was performed by a Catholic priest and we had some of the Sisters of St Joseph attend as well.”
