A colourful cause

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - NEWS -

ALL the colours of the rainbow were represented when students at St Columba’s Catholic Primary School got bright for a good cause.

The students took part in a colour run on October 26 to raise money for a new piano for the school’s music program.

Parents and Friends Committee parent representative and event co-ordinator Jacinta Rimington said the idea was to get students involved in a unique activity.

“It was very colourful, there was plenty of colour and bubbles, and we even included five activity stations for the students to try out,” she said. “The day went fantastic, it was the first time we’ve run a colour run event.

“I think the teachers enjoyed it just as much as the students.

“The students all dressed in white with some colourful pants.

“We’ve held walkathons in the past but we wanted to do something different to help raise money for the piano.”

Mrs Rimington said the school’s music program had performed very well and the committee was looking to support it.

“We are hoping to d461252 raise $10,000 and we’ve raised $5700 so far,” she said. “We had support from Soklich and Co, who sponsored the event.”
