Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - OPINION -

FOR many years, I have been crying out for more specialised traffic police to be visual on our roads.

Nothing makes you drive better than the sight of a traffic cop.

Speed cameras do nothing to cut our shocking road toll as they are only there to bring in “road tax” for the government of the day.

Fair dinkum, can someone please explain what good is it to receive a speeding fine days after the offence?

Especially when you cannot remember the day, time or place.

Bob Kucera, the now-retired, high-ranking police officer, made me smile when on television he stated you can drive to Albany now and never see a police vehicle.

Well, Bob, if they don’t listen to you, I might as well keep quiet. CHARLIE GIBSON, Falcon.
