Kennel time for a barking cause
MARSHA Sullivan does not mind being in the dog house for a day.
The South Perth resident is taking part in Shenton Park-based Dogs’ Refuge Home’s annual fundraiser In the Dog House on December 3.
Mrs Sullivan will spend the day in a kennel with a cute companion to raise money for the refuge home.
“It’s the third year I’ve taken part in the appeal,” she said. “I’ve helped out at the open days and the street appeals too.
“You go into the kennel at about 10.30pm and stay until 2.30pm and I don’t mind doing it because the dogs are great.
“It’s a really good day because there are plenty of stalls and lots for people to do.”
Mrs Sullivan said she had been a volunteer dog walker at the refuge home since about 2011.
“We are asked to do as many days as we can and so I do one day per week,” she said.
“You fall in love every day because all the dogs are gorgeous but the turnover is high as the dogs get adopted, which is lovely to see.
“My mother instilled a love of animals in me from a young age so I’ve always had that passion.
