Fireys turn up heat

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - NEWS - Sophie Moore

BELMONT is heading for a red-hot 2017 – and not just the weather – with the return of the sizzling 2017 Perth Firefighters Calendar featuring local firefighters Phil Birch and Brett Jones.

As June’s poster boys, the duo, based at Perth Airport, joined 13 fellow firefighters who front the camera to fundraise for Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation (formerly PMH Foundation).

“Raising funds for such a worthy cause is something truly special,” Mr Birch said.

“To be part of the calendar is a fantastic opportunity to help the community.”

Mr Jones said he was motivated to take on the calendar challenge after witnessing the care provided to his son at the hospital.

“Giving my time is the least I could do for PMH after the amazing care they provided my son. I’m privileged to say that I’ve helped PMH provide a much-needed service to the community, today and in the future,” he said.

Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation Chief Executive Denys Pearce said all proceeds from the calendar would go towards supporting vital research and equipment at the hospital’s Burns Unit, which treats thousands of children from across WA each year.

“Over the past nine years, our partnership with the Perth Firefighters Calendar has helped raise more than $850,000, which is a huge success and testament to the passion and commitment that the firefighters have for supporting children,” he said.

The calendar is available for $15 from the Volunteers’ Kiosk at PMH, or online at
