AUSTRALIANS spend too much at Christmas. Many over eat and drink and end up feeling guilty about their excesses. Well, there is an easy way to alleviate some of the guilt and support those less fortunate – donate to the Salvos appeal. The Salvation Army helps thousands of people during the holiday period – three times as many in December than any other month - and it is desperate for funds. Salvation Army Major Paul Hateley said the festive season was a difficult time for some people. “There are people who cannot afford to buy a gift or afford any sort of get together,” he said. “We did research and found more than half of our clients can’t afford presents for family or friends.” People can donate at salvation or phone 13 SALVOS (13 72 58). Donations can also be made at any Westpac branch.
