Damaged jetty reopens to public
THE Department of Transport has reopened Como Jetty to the public as it carries out maintenance.
The jetty was closed in late August 2016 by the department to carry out programmed maintenance on sections of the old timber underdeck support beams which required replacement.
Whilst carrying out these works further significant deterioration was found inside the sleeved timber support piles.
These piles now require total replacement given their poor condition.
The department is aware of the importance of the Como Street Jetty and is progressing these issues as a matter of priority.
Como Jetty is open again but still needs repairs.
