Join clean-up bid

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - OPINION -

COMMUNITY groups, individuals and businesses in the Town of Victoria Park have been encouraged to keep a litter-free neighbourhood.

The Adopt-a-Spot program, run by Keep Australia Beautiful WA, encourages community-focused organisations and individuals to keep their local environment clean by adopting a site in the area to keep litter-free.

Mayor Trevor Vaughan has called on residents to get involved in creating a litter-free community.

“The Adopt-a-Spot program encourages environmental responsibility and gives locals the opportunity to support the Town in its litter clean-up efforts,” he said.

“Research suggests that littered areas are more likely to attract other anti-social behaviours such as graffiti and vandalism, so tackling the littering issue is important for community safety as well as environmental health.”
