Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - LIFESTYLE - Aaron Corlett

THE highlights of the Old Mill Theatre’s past 12 months will be recognised at an upcoming awards ceremony.

The Milly Awards will take place on January 20 with a number of awards, including best actor, actress and production handed out.

Attendees will be able to enjoy gourmet canapes, entertainment and drinks before the evening starts proper at 8pm.

Old Mill Theatre vicechairman Phil Barnett said the night would be a chance to reflect on the past 12 months.

“There will be excerpts from shows that have been performed from the past year as well as other bits of entertainment,” he said.

“There have been some quality shows but I think the last show of the year, Scrooge, was one of my favourites.

“It got kids involved and I believe the youth should be involved in theatre; the show definitely sent off the year on a high.”

Barnett said there would also be a sneak peek at the shows to come.

“We are always trying to put on interesting, alternative shows as well as ones that cater for our existing attendees,” he said. “We want to have new audiences enjoy our shows.”

People interested in attending are required to RSVP on 9367 8719.

David Heder (centre) has been nominated for best actor for his role as Ishmael in Moby Dick, alongside Kit Leake and Josh Harris.
